Minister of Agriculture seeks funds to involve private farms in feedstock supply

The Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Askar Myrzahmetov suggests creating a network of milk collection points and private feedlots to ensure the supply of meat and raw milk to processing companies.

More than 70-80% of raw milk and meat is produced by private farms, while the milk and meat processing companies are suffering from the shortage of supply and work at 60% of their capacity.

668 milk collection stations with the capacity to receive 380,000 tonnes of milk from private farms will increase milk-processing capacities from 64% to 84% and boost milk production by 30%. Estimated tax revenues are over 1 billion tenge annually. (339.1/$1.)

The Minister also suggested micro lending programs for creating 32,000 private feedlots to produce 100,000 tonnes of beef and ramp up processing capacities from 61% to 95%.
KazAgro will be allocating the funds within the Employment Roadmap 2020.
